Workwear Wednesday – Sweater Weather

This cowl neck sweater is great for cold, winter days, and I love the color. It’s so rich and goes well with brown or black! The best part about it is it only cost $3.00 during an end of season sale!

sweater ($3 on clearance), white and black skirt ($25), brown pants ($15), brown vest (Christmas gift), plum pants ($10)

Workwear Wednesday – Winter Wonderland

With the impending snow the deer, turkeys, opossums, and random cat that we’ve named Boy George were all out and about preparing to hunker down and stay warm, so I thought this camouflage cardigan was most appropriate for this week. It is also pretty easy to add layers to it, so it wasn’t too cold, and it works great with three different styles of boots!

camouflage cardigan ($20), khaki pants ($10 with a buy one get one special), black vest (purchased with a gift card), brown t-shirt (free from a friend’s mom), black pants ($15)

Workwear Wednesday – It’s Flannel Season

I LOVE this lined flannel shirt. It is so warm and cozy. It was my go-to winter shirt last year back when I actually left my house. If I wore more than my workout clothes more regularly, it would be a great option for working from home, especially as it continues to feel more like winter. While this is definitely a more casual shirt, it can still be dressed up by pairing it with a pencil skirt, and adding some cheetah print pumps is always fun!

Lined flannel shirt ($16), navy pencil skirt ($3 on clearance), navy vest (gift), khaki skinny pants ($10), navy long-sleeved t-shirt ($3), scarf (free–I won a gift card)

Workwear Wednesday – Winter Wear

We’ve been lucky so far in Kansas that the weather has been pretty mild, but yesterday it certainly felt like winter, which may be why I look miserable in at least one photo! I hate winter, but I don’t mind the cozy outfits. This week’s feature shows lots of layers to prepare for days to come. This long 3/4 sleeve top works great with leggings, vests, scarves, and boots.

Gray top ($10.00 on clearance–a great find while holiday shopping at the Legends in KC a few years ago), black vest which is reversible and also serves as the red plaid vest (gift), lavender leggings ($6.00 on clearance during an after Christmas sale), red hat and plaid scarf (Christmas gifts), black leggings ($12.00), black/silver scarf (Christmas gift)

Unintentionally, most of the items shown here have a holiday story!

Workwear Wednesday – ‘Tis the Season

It’s hard to believe, but the holiday season is here! This long, ivory sweater is the perfect match for holiday-themed tights that can work for the office, a day out shopping, or an after hours holiday party. It actually goes well with any pair of tights and can easily be dressed up or down depending upon your day! My friend Mac joined in on the photo shoot, and just for fun I added another look with a different pair of holiday tights because ’tis the season!

ivory sweater ($3.00 on clearance), maroon tights and cardigan (Christmas gifts), red vest (hand-me-down from my friend’s mom), holiday tights with snowflakes ($8.00 on clearance), black sweater ($15.00), buffalo plaid vest (Christmas gift), and holiday tights with Christmas trees ($15.00)

Workwear Wednesday – Simple Gray Wrap Dress

Today I show different ways to wear a simple gray wrap dress that feels like you are wearing a t-shirt. Wear it by itself for a spring or early fall look, and add some color with accessories and/or bright shoes! As it gets colder, pair it with tights, a scarf, and a cardigan or jacket for a comfortable but put together look! The dress was $10.00 on clearance, both pairs of tights were $12.00 regular price, the cardigan was $6.00 on clearance, the red scarf was $5.00, and the blue/black/gray scarf is actually two combined and both were given to me as gifts.

Workwear Wednesday – Casual Plaid

I love plaid for fall, and this easy red, tan, and blue button-up is perfect for a comfortable, yet put together, outfit. Technically, for me, the featured shirt was free! I used a Downtown Lawrence gift card that was given to me to purchase it, and I believe the retail price was $25.00. It works great with any navy, brown, or khaki base such as navy knit pants ($8), a navy skirt ($3), a khaki skirt ($10), or a brown puffy vest (Christmas gift). It was cold and suddenly rainy, so these were the best quick pics we could get! Oh, and It was haircut and color day, so I have to thank Jen at Salon Citrine for the sleek bob and vibrant color!

Workwear Wednesday – From Day to Definitely Night

Hello! We took a week off from Workwear Wednesday last week due to a busy schedule and some re-organizing, but it’s back! A couple of weeks ago, my mom and I went to TJ Maxx to buy some face serum. I knew this was a mistake, but if I just focused on face products, I shouldn’t leave the store with much more than a couple of face lotions, right? Of course, I was wrong. Since I don’t really have anywhere to go anymore and I already have a closet full of clothes I no longer wear, which is how this blog came about, I’m really trying not to buy anything new. Long story short, I walked out of TJ Maxx with three facial products, two casual dresses (including this featured sweatshirt one), a really comfortable and cozy high neck sweatshirt, and a Christmas-themed pack of zero calorie flavor syrups for my daily protein shakes, which are absolutely delicious. My rationale for the clothing purchases was that they were all inexpensive, comfortable, and great for working from home. This dress truly is one of the most comfortable things I have every put on and can easily work for a variety of occasions.

The sweatshirt dress was on clearance for $10, and I basically bought the exact some thing in tank top dress form with t-shirt material, which I’m sure will be featured this summer. The long sleeved black t-shirt was free from my friend’s mom. The teal leggings were buy one get one free, which brought the one pair to $6.00. The black jacket was part of the suit set I bought with a 30% off friends and family coupon at The Gap years ago, and the black patterned tights were $12.00. Tall girl hint–Target sells tights that are LONG! On another side note, I bought both pairs of boots out of season on super clearance, so if you wait until February or March, you can get some pretty great deals!

Workwear Wednesday – It’s a Little Bright

I love this sweater. The color isn’t something I am normally drawn to, but I saw it online and had to have it, so I put it on my Christmas list one year, and now I wear it all of them. Oh wait…I used to back in the days when I left my house. It’s really comfortable and versatile and definitely stands out! It’s great for casual, weekend outings or a busy day at the office.

The sweater, I believe, was around $25.00. The gray skinny jeans were $10.00, the black and gray skirt (which actually feels like a sweater!) was $5.00 on clearance, and the gray slacks (with a very subtle checked pattern) were $20.00 (and for the longest time were the only dress pants I could find in a store that were long enough for me).

Workwear Wednesday – Another Fall Favorite

I have a lot of favorite fall clothes, but this sweater might be my favorite. It’s so versatile and light that it really could work for a variety of seasons. The sweater was $15.00, the maroon cardigan was a gift one year for Christmas, and the brown jacket is another free item from my friend’s mom (Thanks again, Debbie!). The green skirt was on clearance for $5.00 and the khaki “skinny jeans” were $10.00.
